Thriller Character Types

Heroic Protagonist: The main character who is often willing to sacrifice themselves for the better. They embody features such as bravery, honor, and self sacrifice.


EX: Superman (Movie: Superman)


Villain Antagonist: Character who opposes the protagonist while being driven by evil, selfish, and negative motives.


EX: Killmonger (Movie: Black Panther)

The Everyman: The average, relatable, and realistic character. Lacks special abilities and is very down to Earth.


EX: John McClane (Die Hard)

The unreliable Narrator: A character who is untrustworthy, ignorantly or intentionally providing inaccurate information that misleads the audience.


EX: Joker (JOKER)

The anti-hero: A main character who lacks heroic qualities, often being selfish and flawed. This character is known for doing the right thing for the wrong reason.



EX: Travis Bickle (Taxi Driver)

The femme fatale: This character type is a manipulative woman who uses beauty, intellect, and seduction to lure protagonists into traps.


EX: Roxanne (Good Burger)

The detective: A character that is defined by curiosity and observational skills. They use a methodical approach to uncover a truth.



EX: Clarice Starling (The Silence of the Lambs)

The sidekick: This character is a crucial supporting character who accompanies the protagonist, providing emotional support. They are loyal people.



EX: Robin (Batman)

The stalker: This character is driven by obsession, insecurity, and a desire for control over the victim. They use manipulative behaviors and are usually insane.



EX: Alex Forrest (Fatal Attraction)
